We've earned the seal of A Green & Clean Grower from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Division of Soil and Water Conservation!

By abiding by the terms and conditions of the Horticultural and Gardening Water Quality Agreement, Dug In Farms promotes environmentally responsible farming practices.

The proper management of fertilizers helps prevent the accumulation of excess nutrients in groundwater and surface water. Accumulation of nutrients in groundwater used as drinking water sources can pose public health risks. Excess nutrients in surface waters upsets the natural balance needed for healthy and productive rivers, lakes and streams.

Listen to this compelling TED Talk about sustainable farming.
About Mark Jackson. Mark is CEO of Jackson Farms LS, Inc. He is also the immediate past-president of the Iowa Soybean Association and currently serves as a National Director of the American Soybean Association. He is a fifth generation Iowa farmer who practices sustainable production and environmental responsibility in his modern family farming operations. He was one of the original farmers who pioneered sustainable soybean farming with Unilever. He believes that agriculture in the U.S. needs to continuously improve to meet ongoing sustainability challenges in order to have a direct and positive impact for the future of our world.
About this talk. In 1890, Mark Jackson’s great-great-great-grandfather bought a plot of land in southern Iowa. Five generations later, Mark is still farming that same land but using some very different techniques. In this moving story that crosses generations, Mark shows us both how radically agriculture has changed since that time, and how some things have stayed exactly the same.
