Thank you for stopping by the “Living the Honor Box Life” blogsite. My name is Carolyn and I own and operate Dug In Farms with my trusty sidekick, Doug, the dog. Knowing what crazy, busy lives we all have, it’s particularly meaningful that you’ve taken the time to join me. Thanks so much!
My intention for this blog is to share a bit of farm life with those who are interested in getting the ‘real dirt’ ~ both the joys and hardships of farming as a single person. Last year I opened the Dug In farm stand at the end of the driveway. Since I can’t farm and man the stand simultaneously, it operates as an honor box. You choose what you want and drop the money in the box. And yes, people are HONEST! The only downside to the honor box is that I rarely meet my customers, so I hope this blog allows me to start conversation with you and your friends who have been so wonderfully supportive of the farm.
You may notice too that everything at Dug In is a “we” thing. While I operate the farm by myself, it is truly a community effort. I couldn’t accomplish my dreams without the help of my family, friends, and incredibly kind strangers ~ all of who give me more than I deserve. I hope you’ll get a chance to meet several of them through this blog. They are truly the backbone of the operation.
Finally, the farm to me is incredibly personal. It is a small piece of the planet that I worked hard for. It’s a house that I’ve come to love despite of all of the challenges it presents. It is my beloved partner and dog, Doug, who I have spoiled beyond repair. It’s the chickens, bees, flowers, fruits and veggies which I tend to like children. And because of how personal a venture it is, I aim to share with you as honestly and frankly as I can.
I’d love to hear from you! Always feel free to share your thoughts about the stand, questions about the farm or tips on un-spoiling a dog.
And as always, thanks for stopping by, Carolyn
