Do We Have Enough Booze??

I love the idea of throwing a party. And, truthfully, I love hosting a party ~ watching people arrive and the party, like a growing wave, take a life of its own. But the moments in between, the moments after committing myself and seeing the first guest cross the threshold, are a bundle of nerve wracking anxiety and pure exhilaration.

These days I spend a lot of my time in those ‘in between’ moments because, for me, running the farm stand is like throwing a party for all your friends. And, hopefully, all of their friends. Although the stand is only open Thursday through Sunday it fills up my week with all sorts of ‘in between’ moments.

The logistics of a party are what gets me going and the same is true for the stand. There are countless details to consider and it seems something can always be done better.

Wednesday night I’m flying around the cool room organizing flower arrangements, displays, pricing sheets. Have I harvested enough, have I ordered enough?

And then, like the night before any good party it all comes down to a simple realization ~ as long as there’s enough booze it’ll be fine.

So I slough off to bed anticipating the next morning, hoping that the produce stays fresh and weather stays warm. Thursday morning arrives in a rush and the first person pulls in the drive. Panic turns to relief. The ‘in between’ moments are forgotten. The magic of a party is upon me and it’s time to simply ride the wave.

I’d love to hear what you think of the stand, what new detail or treat you’d like to see. There’s so much possibility!

Thanks for joining the party, Carolyn
