Daydreaming

This week I’m indulging in a little daydreaming.

I’m gathering all the notes I’ve made over the past year. The scratches of ideas that mark the border of my yearly calendar, the tiny spiral notebooks I keep stuffed in my money pouch, the endless index cards filled with “good ideas” and stored in the junk drawer.

The notes are a collection of what I wished I’d done this year. Or ideas that customers and friends pass along. Plants to grow. Varieties to try out. New ways of growing an old favorite.

On December first this fun dance of wishing and dreaming will end and the hard work of planning will start. The fantasy of ordering “one of everything” from Johnnie’s seed catalogue will meet reality.

But before the joy-suck of reality sets in, I’d love your help.

Is there a particular fruit or vegetable that you would like to buy next year but just can’t find anywhere locally? Maybe a melon that has your mouth watering or a variety of sweet pepper that reminds of you of a long ago trip to Portugal.

Do you have a certain vase that is begging for a certain flower? Or a family tradition of shelling half runner beans that you want to pass on to your grandkids? What is it about growing or getting your hands in the dirt that gets you into your boots and out the front door?

We want to know. We want to know what’s growing on your dream farm? We want to know what’s on the shelves of your dream farm stand?

I’m looking forward to seeing what we all come up with for next year. I'm looking forward to dreaming about all the tasty treats to grow and the tough decisions of what NOT to grow. But more than anything, I’m looking forward to seeing YOU again next year.

And, as always, thanks for stopping by!

Carolyn
